HAVE I GOT "BAM" NEWS FOR YOU
The latest information on all things BAM!

Hands up who else has successfully managed to stuff themselves with chocolate and all things lovely over the double bank holiday weekend? We certainly have! This month we ask about the impact that Student Brand Managers are having on your organisation, delve into the daily life of our Account Sales Manager, Vicki, and look back on some of the most highest profile advertisers of 2011.

What impact are Student Brand Managers having on your organisations?

Does your organisation have issues with Student Brand Managers targeting your campus? Over the last few years, we have noticed an increase in the number of brands using Student Brand Managers and the companies that provide them.

Are student organisations losing out on potential commercial revenue gain? If brands are not present to actively monitor the activity, are they getting value for money? Are Student Brand Managers getting access to high footfall areas and what does your student organisation do, if anything, to encourage or discourage this happening?

These are some of the questions up for debate on our "Student Brand Manager Impact" survey . All responses will be kept anonymous but we will share the overall opinion and comments through this newsletter next month.

Are these brands your next advertiser?

Last year BAM booked a number of high profile brands into media opportunities provided by Media Owners within our media portfolio.

Here is a sample of some of these brands:

Team Building

Now is the time to update your information on our system so that these brands can book into your media this year. Don't forget, it is not just big brands that book in through BAM, we have a range of advertisers waiting to book into your media!

If you have any questions, please contact Rob Hardy, Commercial Director on 08451300667 or robert@bamuk.com. We are also looking to make some improvements to the Media Owner side of our system and so any feedback from you would be greatly appreciated. Please send any feedback to Rob.

Introducing ...

Vicki Buffoni
Account Sales Manager

How long have you been working at BAM?

I started at BAM in September 2009. I started as the BAM Receptionist where I learnt the ins and outs of the business, I then progressed to the Sales Department, working as both a Sales Executive and a University Liaison Executive. Having worked as the Assistant Sales Manager, I now have the pleasure of heading up the Account Sales team as the Division Manager.

What is the main purpose of your role as Account Sales Manager?

To ensure the Account Sales Division maximises the advertising opportunities at our exclusive accounts, whilst continuing to develop quality relationships with our accounts and working towards the company's vision of becoming a Sunday Times Top 100 SME Best Companies to Work For by 2015.

Vicki, tell us a bit more about an average day in your role?

An average day involves:

  • Ensuring the team are up-to-date with targets and making sure that they are motivated to consistently perform
  • Working on our new Advertising Partnership Agreements, that a number of you will have spoken to Ian about back in December. For our exclusive accounts, I will be in touch in the next couple of months to go through this with anyone who would like to go into further detail about these agreements
  • Making sure our internal operating system (BOP) is developed and further improved upon
  • Meeting with other internal Departments to help facilitate sales (for example, the Communications Department who design and create our media packs)

What are you most excited about over the coming year?

Building our relationships with our exclusive accounts and ensuring that we are maximising their revenue. Some of you may know me from my Liaison days, but I am really looking forward to meeting those of you who I haven't had the pleasure of speaking to through my past roles.

How can you be contacted?

By email on vicki@bamuk.com. By phone on 01242 537 383. By mobile on 07738277868 or by Skype on vicki.buffoni..bam.

BAM careers

We are currently looking for Web Developers, a Receptionist, an Account Sales Executive and a Credit Controller to join our team. At BAM, we believe that work should be challenging but the challenge should be fun. Do you know someone who would suit this role perfectly?

Does your student organisation make the most of its ability to add to the student experience?

If you want to have your say, the online HE section of the Guardian has pencilled in a live chat about "Making the most of student unions to deliver student experience" on Friday 20th April. Click here to find the full timetable.

We hope that you have found this month's BAM newsletter an enjoyable and interesting read and we look forward to bringing you up to speed in the next newsletter in May!
